Kindergarten 1 classes are currently using the project approach. Teachers are currently planning according to the children’s interests. Children in Ms Yanika’s class (K 1.7) have shown interest in the topic of the farm. The pupils and their teacher are participatory co-learners. This approach is developmentally appropriate in planning for children’s learning in early childhood settings. Through this approach, teachers gain a greater understanding of each child’s individual needs, allowing for thoughtful and individualised programming.
